Module 4 – Advanced Craps

Wow. You’re looking like a right old pro! Good job! With a little more coaching, this module will take you from a newbie to an expert in no time. For basic bets, we’ve got ya covered. Now it’s time to move on to the more tricky ones… don’t worry. They’re a piece of pie!

Let’s Bet on It

Single Roll Bets: These bets are valid for a single roll only. They are also known as Service Bets. Only the stick man or a dealer can place a Single Roll bet and it is positioned in the middle of the Craps table.

Type of bet How the bet wins
2 Snake Eyes A win if the shooter rolls a 2
3 Ace-Deuce A win if the shooter rolls a 3
11 Yo A win if the shooter rolls a 11
12 Boxcars, Midnight or cornrows A win if the shooter rolls a 12
2 and 12 Hi-lo A win if the shooter rolls a 2/12.
2,3 or 12 Three-way A win if the shooter rolls a 2, 2 or 12
C & E Combined bet – the player halves their bet on Craps and the other half on Yo. One will lose and the other might win.
7 7 A win if the shooter rolls a 7.
The Horn Players bet on one unit of the following: 2, 3, 11 or 12 at the same time on one roll. That means that the player makes 4 separate bets and depending on which number is rolled, three other units are subtracted.
Whirl or World A 5-unit bet combined of a horn and any 7 bet.
On the Hop A single roll bet made on the combination of the two dice on the next roll.
Field Self-service bet placed as close to each player as possible. Players bet that 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12 will show on the next roll of the dice.

Place Bets: The Place Bet is an “on-demand Point”. The player bets that the Placed number will roll before a 7 rolls. This bet can be made at any time, but is usually made after a Point number is already established. The Place numbers in Craps are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 1.

Let’s Talk Strategy

As said in the previous module, it is always best to go for the Pass Line bet if you’re a beginner. If you’re feeling confident enough with the game, you can try spice it up a little with some new bets. While the best odds are found on the pass Line bets, a player can get a 2:1 advantage on the first roll of the Pss Line. The Come and Don’t-Come bets are also great bets to try.

The Safest betting system is also a simple and easy to-use strategy when it comes to more advanced Craps. On the roll that takes place after the Come-Out roll, the player will match their own bet that they placed on the Don’t Pass Line. This is to protect the Pass Line bet and prevent losses. If a 7 or an 11 is rolled in the Come-Out roll, your matched bet will not offer any protection from loss.

It is wise to keep away from proposition bets. The player will bet a 2 or a 12 will be tossed on the next roll and these are bad odds to bet on.

Congratulations!

You’ve made it. You have officially passed with flying colours at Craps Academy!
